UUM ONLINE: With the advent of the new trimester of January 2013, approximately 120 new students including postgraduate and undergraduates registered at UUM Kuala Lumpur (UUMKL) Campus located along Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz, Kuala Lumpur yesterday in pursuit of higher education.
In an interview with the Director of UUMKL, Datuk Professor Yusof Kassim, he mentioned that among the students who registered were Doctor of Business Administration, Master and Bachelor students across programs ranging from Business Administration, Finance and Banking.
He added that the students attended briefings on the programs while academic information was also disseminated via counters which were open throughout the day.
“Generally, there is a development in terms of students in pursuit of higher education in UUM; UUMKL in particular has now emerged as the focus of various groups comprising artists, businessmen, politicians, journalists, corporate bodies and officers from government and private sectors,” he said.
Meanwhile the Vice Chancellor of UUM, Professor Datuk Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said he took pride in UUM as it had become the focus of a multitude of communities. Simultaneously, the readiness of UUMKL as a branch campus to accommodate students residing in Kuala Lumpur for further study was a great achievement which was in line with the goals of the government.
“I view this as a development because if universities from abroad can open branch campuses here, our local universities can also follow their footsteps,” he suggested.
UUMKL, an eight-floor building provides a variety of facilities for its students including lecture rooms and a library.
